Shaheen Group Launches Community-Backed Scheme to Help Students Hit by Covid

Cooperation sought from civil society, religious groups and local committees to pool in money and create CARES Fund

NEW DELHI – As Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on education, the Shaheen Education Foundation, a non-profit educational institution that runs premier schools in Biddar, Karnataka, has come up with a proposal to alleviate the crisis in the school education sector.

The proposal suggests the civil society, religious groups and local committees come forward to pool in money to create CARES (Community’s Aid and Response for Educational Support) Fund for the needy students including Madrassa pass outs. According to the proposal, Shaheen Foundation will bear 60% of the expenses while 40% will come from CARES Fund.

The proposal stresses that the money should be preferably channelised through places of worship.

Under this scheme Shaheen College Bidar offers different courses including PUC I and PUC II, Arts, Science and commerce, Science with integrated coaching for NEET and JEE, Degree courses in Arts, Science and Commerce with UPSC coaching, Special bridge course and PUC 1st and 2nd for Madrassa graduates.

Founded by a well-known educationist and philanthropist Dr. Abdul Qadeer, Shaheen School and college is a premier institution known for supplying hundreds of students to medical courses every year.
