Septuagenarian BJP Leader Expelled in UP After His Obscene Video Goes Viral

Babban Singh Raghuvanshi claims the video is fabricated and is a deliberate conspiracy to malign his image

LUCKNOW – The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled party leader and chief of the Kisan Cooperative Mill in Rasra in Ballia district, Babban Singh Raghuvanshi, from the party after a video showing him engaging in obscene acts with a dancer went viral on social media.

The BJP’s state general secretary, Govind Narain Shukla, issued a letter on Thursday expelling Raghuvanshi from the party due to misconduct and indiscipline.

The video, said to be from a wedding event, shows the 70-year-old BJP leader indulging in inappropriate behaviour and obscene acts with a female dancer.

Raghuvanshi claimed the video was fake and accused some party members of conspiring against him.

“I have been in politics for years. I am 70 years old. I admit I went to attend this wedding, which was conducted 20 days ago. I also gave money to the dancer. But I did not engage in any obscene activity,” media reports quoted him as saying.

“This is a deliberate conspiracy to malign my image. The video is fabricated. Members of MLA Ketakee Singh’s family are behind this,” he alleged.

Ketakee Singh is the BJP MLA from Bansdih assembly constituency.

Raghuvanshi claimed the incident took place during a wedding procession of the village head of Durgipur in Bihar, which was also attended by Ketakee Singh’s family. “They secretly filmed this to defame me. I have never done such things. I’m an old man now,” he said.
