NEW DELHI—Far right columnist Katie Hopkins of Britain was Friday permanently banned from Twitter, according to a report by Huffington Post UK citing that the decision was a consequence for “hateful conduct”.

The report quoted a Twitter spokesperson saying: “Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us – abuse and hateful conduct have no place in our service and we will continue to take action when our rules are broken.

“In this case, the account has been permanently suspended for violations of our hateful conduct policy.”

Hopkins, a fan of populist leaders like Donald Trump, is a darling of sections of the Indian media. An Islampohobe who also justifies apartheid in South Africa Hopkins is lauded by rightwing TV channles  for her pro-Modi and pro- Hindutva views.

Last year in October, she landed in trouble after she attempted to create a scene during a pro-Kashmir protest rally outside Indian embassy in London. In her defense she had posted a Tweet saying she was heckled by a  Pakistani Muslim mob in London she had gone “to show my support for the peaceful Indian diaspora & #Modi”. This was the treatment I faced.”

Though, according to the report,  Twitter did not disclose the specific  reason  that led to the decision,  Hopkins’ had triggered outrage when she wrote a tweet mocking the black lives matter protests. “Today is #whiteoutwednesday. I will shortly be posting a picture of my arse. Thank you,” She tweeted on Wednesday.

She had her account temporarily banned previously as well.
