MUMBAI — At a gathering organized by Dharmik Jan Morcha at the Marathi Patrakar Sangh on Tuesday, prominent religious figures while denouncing the spread of hatred under the pretext of religion, called for enactment of strict laws to prevent disrespect towards religious and revered personalities.
Prof. Salim Engineer, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, emphasized that true religion is rooted in humanity, stating, “If a person lacks humanity, he/she is far from the true essence of religion.” Various religious heads present at the conference expressed their commitment to fostering brotherhood, love, and non-violence, while condemning those who disrupt peace and incite hatred, .
Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, President of JIH Maharashtra, reiterated that no religion promotes hatred and called for spreading love and unity across communities, reported Radiance news.
The event, attended by around 100 prominent religious leaders from 21 districts of Maharashtra, concluded with a press conference where the leaders urged the government to introduce stringent laws against forces that jeopardize religious harmony. The gathering showcased a collective resolve to safeguard peace and promote unity across all faiths.
