JAIPUR – The serene atmosphere of Bengal’s folk artist Deen Krishna Thakur’s event was shattered when members of a Hindutva group stormed the venue, causing chaos and fear among attendees.

The incident, which occurred in the heart of the Pink City, has raised concerns over religious harmony and freedom of expression in the region, according to reports.

Eyewitnesses recount the harrowing moments when the peaceful gathering turned into a scene of confrontation. “They barged in, shouting slogans and vandalising the stage. It was terrifying,” said one attendee, still shaken by the experience. The assailants, allegedly affiliated with a local Hindutva outfit, targeted the programme, citing objections to the portrayal of Hindu deities.

Deen Krishna, known for his inclusive approach to spirituality, expressed dismay over the incident. “Our event was a celebration of divine love and unity. It’s disheartening to see such intolerance and aggression,” he lamented. His message of universal love and harmony has garnered a significant following, transcending religious boundaries.

The attack on the event underscores the growing tensions fueled by religious polarisation in the country. Analysts point to the rise of extremist ideologies and the politicisation of religion as contributing factors to such incidents. “This attack is not an isolated event but a manifestation of deeper societal divisions,” remarked a political commentator, highlighting the need for dialogue and reconciliation.

Authorities have assured swift action against the perpetrators. “We will not tolerate any form of religious intolerance or violence. The culprits will be brought to justice,” stated a police official, vowing to maintain peace and order in the city.

However, concerns linger among the local community, fearing a recurrence of such incidents and the erosion of religious freedoms. “We must stand united against forces that seek to divide us based on religion. Our diversity is our strength,” remarked a resident, echoing sentiments of resilience and solidarity.

The attack serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by religious extremism and intolerance. It calls for collective efforts to promote understanding, respect, and coexistence among diverse faiths.

In the face of adversity, Deen Krishna remains undeterred. “We will not be silenced by hate. Our message of unity will prevail,” he affirmed.
