Rahul Gandhi Urges People on X to Stop Using Derogatory Language Against Smriti Irani

NEW DELHI – Weeks after the Lok Sabha election results were announced, Leader of Opposition and Raebareli MP Rahul Gandhi has called for respectful discourse towards former Union minister Smriti Irani and other political leaders.

In a post on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter.” He further added, “Humiliating and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength,” Vartha Bharati reported.

The appeal for civility comes after Irani’s defeat in the Amethi constituency, a result declared on June 4. Irani lost to veteran Congress worker and first-time candidate Kishori Lal Sharma by a margin of 1.6 lakh votes.

Following her loss, Irani expressed her gratitude to BJP party workers and supporters in a press conference. She said, “I express my gratitude to all the BJP party workers and supporters, those who have worked in the service of the constituency and the party with utmost dedication and fidelity…Today, I am grateful to PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that their governments have completed the pending works of 30 years in just 5 years. I congratulate those who win. I will continue to be in the service of the people of Amethi.”

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi secured a significant victory in Raebareli, a Congress stronghold, winning by a majority of 4 lakh votes. His message on social media emphasizes the need for respectful political dialogue, regardless of electoral outcomes.
