Owaisi Joins Teams Visiting Abroad to Focus on India’s Anti-Terror Stance

Date:

The all-party delegations will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations

NEW DELHI — The Union government has decided to dispatch multiple delegations of Members of Parliament (MPs) from across the political spectrum, prominent political figures, and senior diplomats to key countries around the world as a strong diplomatic counteroffensive following the April 22 Pahalgam attack and the ensuing Operation Sindoor.

The delegation’s brief is to expose Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the attack and to underline India’s firm stance against terrorism.

The MPs team, part of the seven delegations, includes Shashi Tharoor from Congress; Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda (BJP); Sanjay Kumar Jha (JD-U); Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK); Supriya Sule (NCP-Sharad Pawar); and Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Eknath Shinde, reports IANS.

According to media reports, prominent Muslim politician, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, has also joined the Centre’s anti-terror all-party delegations to foreign countries.

The Hyderabad MP said as part of the delegation, he would “reveal Pakistan’s motives” to foreign governments. “India has been a victim of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. This began during the time of (former Pakistan President) Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, and we need to tell the world about this and also about the Kandahar plane hijack, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, the 2001 Parliament attacks, the Uri and Pathankot incidents, the killing of seven tourists in Reasi, and Pahalgam. This is a danger for humanity,” PTI quoted Owaisi as saying.

“I am not aware of the group I will be part of, and who is going to be the chairperson. We need to put forth India’s story. Pakistan is trying to project itself as an Islamic country, but India also has nearly 20 crore Muslims. We need to tell (the world) about this as well,” Owaisi added.

“The All-party delegations will project India’s national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the country’s strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism,” the Ministry of External Affairs said on Saturday.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote on X: “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”

The countries where the delegations will be dispatched include the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa, Egypt, the United States, and Japan. — With inputs from IANS
