Muslim World League Lauds India, Pakistan for Prioritising Diplomacy

NEW DELHI — Expressing strong support for the recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) has said both nations made a wise and responsible decision to prioritise diplomacy and dialogue.

In a statement issued on Monday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, praised the swift and constructive response of the two neighbouring countries, highlighting their commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Founded in 1962, the Muslim World League works to spread the true message of Islam by advancing moderate values. The organisation rejects all acts of violence and promotes dialogue with the people of other cultures.

Sheikh Al-Issa described the ceasefire decision as a positive step that aligns with the higher national interests of both nations, emphasising the importance of avoiding unnecessary escalation and maintaining calm.

He also acknowledged the importance of diplomacy and direct communication between India and Pakistan in resolving tensions. He applauded both countries for choosing dialogue over conflict, noting that their decision reflects a shared commitment to peace and mutual understanding. The MWL chief underscored the value of constructive engagement in addressing disputes.

Furthermore, the MWL statement reaffirmed its complete support for all efforts to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and long-term prosperity for the peoples of Pakistan and India.
