Muslim States Urged to Help Philippines



JEDDAH, Nov 12 — Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu urged OIC member states to rush relief supplies to the Typhoon Haiyan –hit Philippines urgently. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families which lost their relatives and loved ones, and prayed for speedy recovery to the wounded.

In Press statement, Ihsanoglu called on OIC member states as well as subsidiary organs, affiliated and specialized institutions, and Islamic charitable organizations to accelerate the delivery of all possible relief, medical, humanitarian and financial aid to the Typhoon victims. The secretary general expressed full readiness to contribute effectively to this noble humanitarian endeavor.

Ihsanoglu appealed to all OIC member states to stand united by the government and people of the Philippines, and called for the provision of emergency aid to mitigate the consequences of this unprecedented natural disaster. He instructed the specialized department to take necessary measures promptly to provide urgent assistance to affected people. –IINA
