Muslim Board Seeks Prompt Action Against Pahalgam Attack Perpetrators

Date:

In solidarity with the families of the victims, the AIMPLB suspended the ongoing protests against the Waqf Act for three days

NEW DELHI — The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called for a prompt investigation into the Pahalgam attack and strict action against the perpetrators

Centre to promptly investigate the attack on tourists in Pahalgam in South Kashmir and take strict action against those responsible.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the AIMPLB strongly condemned the attack and also decided to pause its ongoing protests against the new Waqf law for three days (April 23-25) in solidarity with the families of victims.

The terror attack at Pahalgam’s prime tourist location in Anantnag district on Tuesday left over two dozen people, mostly tourists, dead and several injured.

Board president Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani denounced the terror attack in the strongest terms and urged the Centre to promptly investigate the incident and take strict action against those responsible.

Maulana Rahmani said that the Board’s heartfelt sympathies are with the victims and their families. He reiterated the Board’s demand that the government initiates a thorough and swift investigation and ensure that those found guilty are brought to justice.

Maulana Rahmani also expressed deep concern over how such incidents continue to occur despite the heavy presence of security forces and tight surveillance along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir. “This is undoubtedly a severe failure of our security apparatus,” he said. The Board hopes that the government will focus on strengthening the security system in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure the safety of both locals and tourists.

Dr Qasim Rasool Ilyas, national convener of the Majlis-e-Amal for the protection of Waqf under the AIMPLB, said in a statement that the Pahalgam attack is deeply tragic and strongly condemnable.

Therefore, the Board has decided to suspend its protest programmes under the Waqf Protection Campaign for three days as an expression of mourning and sympathy for the victims’ families.

Ilyas issued a circular to the campaign’s state and district conveners, instructing them to immediately pause all campaign activities for three days.

However, he clarified that the campaign will resume after this period.
