BHOPAL – Houses of three Muslims were bulldozed in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district on Monday after cow carcasses were found dumped in different areas of the district.
The official Facebook page of Seoni collector posted a video of the demolitions informing about the bulldozer action being taken over allegations of cow slaughter. Those whose houses were demolished are Wahid, resident of Gawari, Irfan Mohammed, resident of Gram Kheri and Shadab Khan, resident of Gwari.
The administration carried out the demolition operation calling the residential structures as “encroachment”.
The police have arrested five persons over the allegations of cow slaughter while three of them have been booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
Even Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took to social media informing about the invocation of the NSA against the accused.
“Ad.DG (CID) Shri Pawan Shrivastava and team are reaching the spot for high level investigation of the brutal cow slaughter incident in Seoni. Five accused have been arrested, NSA has been imposed on two accused, strict action is being taken against every accused involved in the incident. No crime against mother cow will be tolerated in Madhya Pradesh,” posted Yadav.
Hindu organisations staged protests in Sunwara and Majhgawan. Seoni MLA Dinesh Rai Munmun and many others participated in the demonstrations on Thursday, on Friday. Some markets in Seoni also remained closed in protest.
Villagers suspect the carcasses may have originated from surrounding villages and floated down the river. They have demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
On Saturday, the chief minister ordered removal of Seoni district collector and SP. Kshitij Singhal, who was collector Seoni, has been transferred and Sanskriti Jain is the new collector. Similarly, Rakesh Kumar, SP Seoni, was transferred and Sunil Kumar was appointed in his place.
The demolition of houses in Seoni follows bulldozing of around a dozen houses of Muslims families in Mandla district over allegations of cow slaughter. And in Joara, houses of four Muslims were demolished after a severed head of a cattle was found near a temple.
