BHOPAL – Hindutva leaders are allegedly persuading financially weak people from Muslim community to convert to Hinduism after luring them with the certificates of backward castes and government facilities in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, said the General Secretary of Congress Rakesh Singh Yadav.

In a video statement issued by Yadav on Saturday, he alleged that there is a conspiracy of conversion going on in the state.

“There is a very big conspiracy around conversion being run in Indore. It has been turned into a business for financial gains. Some people identify Muslims from the middle or lower class, then they are promised of giving benefits of all government schemes after providing caste certificates of SC or ST or OBC communities, after they convert to Hinduism” said the Congress leader.

“The Muslims  are misled and even money is also taken from them,” he added.

According to Yadav, the deal was struck charging Rs 25000 for the caste certificates of OBC communities, Rs 50000 for the certificate of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Rs 75000 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Around 10-15 people are brought to the Khajrana temple claiming that they converted to Hinduism. Their Aadhar card and other documents are made. “Fake caste certificates are prepared to provide the benefit of government schemes,” said Yadav.

According to him, around hundred Muslims were converted striking a deal worth 20-25 lakh.

“They run away after collecting all the money. They are trying to take away the rights of SC/ST as per the policy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It is the policy of the BJP from the beginning to harm the Dalit and OBC communities. They are conspiring to harm Dalits and OBCs” he said.

Yadav filed a complaint with the Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav and the SC/ST commission with regard to illegal conversion and fake caste certificates racket. He demanded a probe into the issue and strict action against the culprits.

“The converted people are given a name but their surname is not issued. As per the constitution, if anyone converts to another religion, he can change his name but not caste and surname. But, here, fake caste certificates are issued and its benefits are availed,” he said.

According to reports, over 82 Muslims were converted at the Khajrana temple in Indore in the last three months. 0n 18 July, 18 Muslims converted to Hinduism, on 28 June, 30 converted, on 4 May, 8 converted and on 27 April, 7 Muslim changed their religion.

Sajha Sanskriti Manch president Sam Pawri and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Santosh Sarma are allegedly said to be involved in the conversion racket.
