MYSURU — Buoyed by the election trends in Karnataka, Congress leader Siddaramaiah stated that the magic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not work in the state.

Talking to reporters at his residence in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah said: “I had already announced that Prime Minister Modi’s magic won’t work in Karnataka and Congress party will get more than 120 seats.”

He further said that Congress party won’t require support of any other political outfit and will form the government on its own.

He also said that his rival, Housing Minister V. Somanna will lose from both the constituencies. Somanna fought the election for the Varuna and Chamarajanagar seats.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has conceded defeat in the Assembly elections even as the final announcement of the election results was yet to come.

“We have not been able to make the mark in the elections in spite of a lot of efforts put up by everybody right from our Prime Minister to workers. Congress was able to make the mark,” said Bommai speaking to reporters. ( With agency inputs)
