Mob Lynching Has No Place in Any Society, Says Jamiat Chief

NEW DELHI – Barbaric acts like mob lynching have no place in any civilised society, Maulana Mahmood Asa’d Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, has said.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the Jamiat chief unequivocally condemned the recent incidents of mob violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh and Chhattisgarh’s Raipur.

Maulana Madani called for strict and immediate action against the perpetrators to ensure justice and reiterated the government’s responsibility to protect the lives and property of all citizens.

In the tragic incident in Aligarh, 35-year-old Farid alias Aurangzeb was brutally attacked by a mob while returning home. Maulana Madani expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident.

Farid sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Malkhan Singh Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Six individuals have been arrested based on CCTV footage so far.

Maulana Madani urged the Uttar Pradesh government to expedite the investigation and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice without delay. He also called for necessary assistance and reasonable compensation for the victim’s family.

Maulana Madani appealed to all communities to remain calm and to seek justice through legal measures, emphasising the importance of upholding the principles of justice and peace to prevent such incidents from dividing the country and its people.

In the wake of the tragic event, a Jamiat district unit team, along with other civil organisations, met with the victim’s family to offer condolences and express solidarity. Under the chairmanship of Jamiat Ulama Aligarh President Mufti Akbar Qasmi, a meeting was held to review the situation and a five-member committee was formed to oversee the case and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The delegation included Maulana Khalid Qasmi, Maulana Riaz, Omar Bhai, Hafiz Umair, Hafiz Aslam, and Haji Omar.
