NEW DELHI — The mutilated body of a Dalit girl, who was missing since October 15. found in bushes in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district on Tuesday.

The girl’s father had filed a missing person complaint on Wednesday and said his daughter had been missing since October 15.

The body was found at the Majhauli village by the villagers, who then informed the police. The police along with a fingerprint team and a forensic squad arrived at the spot and collected the evidence, reports IANS.

A case has been registered in the matter under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The body has been sent for an autopsy.

A police team has been formed to investigate the case and the culprits of the crime will be arrested soon, said Rahul Rusia, Superintendent of Police in Azamgarh, according to the report.
