NEW DELHI — Union Minister Giriraj Singh, infamous for making provocative and hateful remarks, has now threatened large-scale violence if construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya was obstructed.
“If people obstruct construction of Ram Temple, it will create hatred in the minds of 100 crore Hindus who worship Ram and it will not be good if that hatred burst into flames?” said Singh who holds the portfolio of Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the central Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also said: “The Muslims of India are our own blood and DNA. They are descendants of Lord Ram and not of the Mughals.”
Hindutva groups including the ruling BJP and its mentor RSS want construction of Ram Temple on the place where 16th century Babri Masjid once stood in Ayodhya town of Uttar Pradesh. The Mosque was demolished by a saffron mob on 6th December 1992. The title suit of the mosque is pending in the Supreme Court of India.
Giriraj Singh Should Be Arrested
Reacting over Singh’s statement, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli said: “Our faith is that we all are descendants of Prophet Adam. As for Ayodhya issue, every child in the country knows that when elections approach, such baseless statements are given and attempts made to polarize votes and communalize the atmosphere.”
Journalist Aditya Menon demanded Singh’s arrest.
“Arrest Giriraj Singh. His statement is an incitement to violence. His only legitimate place is behind bars,” Menon tweeted.

Even though the Ayodhy issue is being heard by the Supreme Court, RSS and other Hindutva groups have been demanding a law to construct the temple without waiting for the court outcome.
