NEW DELHI – Ever heard of a person occupying the position of a head of a university, a Central university at that, issuing statement in support of the party in power? Listen to Firoz Ahmed Bakht who happens to be the chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) to know where our democracy is heading to?

Bakht’s official position seems to be no deterrent on his praise for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. What’s more he goes on to urge the people to bring back Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.

In a video surfaced on the social media, Bakht, calling himself as a “sansakari” and “nationalist” Muslim, cautioned people against those whom he called as “cheater” and “fraudster” from the Opposition parties pitted against elect the “honest” Yogi Government.

Despite being a head of a prominent educational institution, Bakht repeated the political slogans given by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its advertisement while making the impassioned appeal to the electorate to vote the Hindutva party as an spokesman of the party.

“laaye Yogi ki Upyogi Sarkar jahan virodhi bakbak karte hain Yogi ka kaam chaka chak bolta hai (Bring back worthy Yogi government where Opposition talks while Yogi’s work shines,” he said.

Singing paeans on Yogi Adityanath, he went on to list his achievements during his tenure as Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

“Earlier, it took two and a half hours to go to Hapur from Delhi. Now, such shining roads and flyovers are built that it now takes only 40-50 minutes to reach there,” claimed Bhakht in the video.

Bhakt also gave details about 600-km Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj whose foundation, according to him, was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  “It has unlimited road projects,” he claimed. He also claimed that an airport will be built in Shahjahanpur.

“Bhaiyo Bahno, Modi ki tarah Yogi jaisa damdaar, dildar, jaandar, shaandar, Kaamdar, rawadar, wazadar, zordar, wafadar, paasdar, sewadar, choukidar and imaandar mukhiyamantri ab tak nhi aaya hai. To aanewale election me kamal ke upar apna thappa lagaye aur Modi ji and Yogi ji ko wapas lekar aaye,” he said.

This is not the first time when Bakht has issued such a political statements. On January 5, Bakht showered similar praise on Naredra Modi in the wake of security breach during the Prime Minister’s visit to Firozpur, Punjab.
