NEW DELHI – Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, has criticized the Modi government for the lack of attention to national security concerns.
In a recent post on X, Kharge raised several issues regarding India’s security situation, Vartha Bharati reported.
Kharge in his post claimed that China has built and operationalized a bridge connecting the north and south banks of Pangong Lake, potentially enhancing its strategic dominance near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Additionally, he alleged that China has begun constructing a new village along the LAC in the Demchok sector, which, along with Depsang, remains a point of contention following the Galwan clashes.
On the matter of Pakistan, Kharge said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, there have been 25 terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly affecting the Jammu region. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of 15 soldiers and injuries to 27 others.
He also noted a troubling spread of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism into three new districts—Doda, Kathua, and Reasi—and observed that civilian casualties in these incidents are at their highest in two decades.
Kharge argued that these issues are of utmost seriousness and require a unified and collective approach.
He criticized the Modi government for allegedly failing to keep Parliament informed and for focusing on what he perceives as false bravado and hollow propaganda, rather than addressing India’s strategic interests.
