MUMBAI – Addressing the alarming dropout rate among girls from society’s marginalised sections, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced that the government will earmark a budget to cover the college fees of girl students from minority communities.
At a recent conference on minority affairs, Ajit Pawar emphasised the government’s commitment to inclusivity, stating, “We will take the society along with us.”
Recognising financial barriers faced by girls from diverse religious backgrounds, particularly after completing 12th grade, Pawar stressed the importance of ensuring continued access to education for all.
Under the new initiative, families with an annual income below 8 lakh rupees will receive assistance to cover college fees, thereby alleviating the financial burden on parents and guardians.
Pawar further outlined plans for an effective implementation of the scheme, which will commence from the current academic year.
Additionally, Pawar announced the formation of a minority trust meeting at the state level to ensure equitable access to education for all communities, including Muslims.
Pawar reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity and security. Hasan Musharraf’s appointment as a minister was cited as evidence of the government’s dedication to representation and equality.
Pawar affirmed the government’s unwavering support for minority communities and called for collective efforts to uphold the principles of justice and equality.
