MUMBAI — In a heartening display of honesty and integrity, two students of Jamia Hussainia Arabia, Shrivardhan in Maharashtra have earned widespread praise and recognition for their noble act of returning jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh, which they found in a bus in Mangaon.

The Jewellery belonged to Mangala Sakpal, a resident of the area. She was riding the bus from Chaplon to Virar and upon reaching Mangaon, she realized that her bag, containing jewellery was missing. She promptly lodged a complaint at the Mangaon police station.

Investigations led the police to brothers Khabib Hanif Jambharkar (25) and Muhammad Shabir Jambharkar (15), who were also passengers on the same bus heading towards Mangaon. Khabib Jambharkar inadvertently took Sakpal’s bag instead of his own when he alighted at Mangaon bus stand.

Realising his mistake upon reaching Shrivardhan, Khabib refrained from opening the bag. Acting upon his conscience and principles, Khabib took the bag to the Mangaon police station the following morning, where it was duly returned to its rightful owner.

The exemplary act of honesty by the Jambharkar brothers did not go unnoticed. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Surya Vanshi, Police Inspector Rajinder Patil, and Spoony Manoj Bhosle lauded their integrity and moral uprightness. The brothers were welcomed with garlands at the Mangaon Police Station, where they were commended for their outstanding character.

Maulana Qazi Hussain Mahimkar of Jamia Hussainia Arabia Shrivardhan expressed pride in the students’ conduct, stating, “These are two students of our madrasa who, guided by their faith in Allah and the teachings of Islam, promptly returned the bag full of precious jewels. Their actions exemplify the values instilled by our institution and reflect positively on our community.”

The noble gesture by the brothers serves as a shining example of honesty and ethical conduct, reaffirming the importance of integrity and morality in today’s society. Their act of selflessness and adherence to principles have not only earned them accolades but have also restored faith in the inherent goodness of humanity.
