NEW DELHI – Maulana Arshad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, on Tuesday said that our objection is to the sectarian mentality in the current situation, not to the order to conduct a survey of madrassas.
He noted that the way sectarian forces have created an atmosphere of hatred throughout the country during the last few years, and the role is being played by the government in this regard, in view of this, the Muslim is forced to believe that at this time every policy is coming forward to destroy their existence.
Maulana Madani said that madrassas are being targeted by sectarian forces, so he understands their intentions. Reformation of the system of madrasas might be a right saying, but we have to be ready for this because these madrasas are the jugular vein of the nation. He also said that we have always tried to allow our religious institutions to run on the basis of the right given in the constitution, but the sectarians are involved in an conspiracy to destroy them, but we will never allow them to do so, God willing.
“The existence of Madrasas are not against the country but for its development, the one and a half year history of Madrasas is a witness to this,” he said.
In response to a question, Maulana Madani said that on the other hand, madrasas in the state of Assam are being bulldozed by saying that they are centers of terrorism, and the offices of Al-Qaeda spreading unrest. This is the main reason due to which when the circular to survey all the unapproved madrasas in Uttar Pradesh has been issued, various concerns are arising in the minds of Muslims.
Maulana Madani said that before issuing such a circular, the Muslims should have been taken into confidence. Other educational institutions are also running, so if the survey of unapproved schools is necessary, why is it not necessary to survey other unapproved educational institutions? If the intention of the government is correct, why this discrimination? Where are those madrassas, on what land are they established and who are running them? If this is the purpose of the survey, then we do not think there is anything wrong in it, Muslims are ready to give support, even so, the doors of the madrassas are always open for everyone. There is nothing hidden in them, everything is as clear as a mirror.
In response to a question, he said that the Chief Minister of Assam is trying to justify the demolition of madrassas by making baseless accusations. They cannot present any proof till doomsday. A man might say whatever he wants with his tongue. Maulana Madani also said that the Chief Minister of Assam was also a minister during the Congress period, he became a minister even then when BJP came to power, But while he himself has become the Chief Minister, the Madrasahs of Assam started appearing to him as Al-Qaeda offices, the question is why he did not see Al-Qaeda anywhere when he was a minister?
In response to another question, Maulana Madani explained that pure religious education is given in madrasas, and this authority has been given to us by the constitution of the country, the constitution has also given us the full right to establish and run our own educational institutions. There is no place for terrorism and extremism in the teaching of Quran and Hadith in madrassras.
He further said that recently the Chief Minister of UP had visited Saharanpur, and there was a demand by some sectarian forces that the name of the medical college ” Sheikh Ul Hind” should be changed. He replied that the whom this college is named, he was a great freedom fighter. I was sick and in hospital at that time, I wanted to write a letter of appreciation to the Chief Minister and congratulate him for this, because he has admitted this historical truth.
In such a situation, a big question arises that if Sheikh Al Hind was a great freedom fighter, why can their pupils and students turn against the country, and how can these Madrassas established by him be the center of terrorism? The historical truth is that it was our scholars and forefathers who dreamed of liberating the country from the clutches of slavery at that time when the entire nation was sleeping. Presently, today there are conspiracies going on in Assam to cut down these trees planted by our ancestors, their descendants are being declared as traitors and enemies of the country.
He said that those people who graduated from colleges and universities have left the country by looting millions of wealth of the country. The common citizens of the country are living a life in worse condition under the burden of poverty and inflation. And these people who looted the country’s assets are enjoying themselves in foreign countries, aren’t they traitors to the country? And there would not be an attempt to find out how many Muslims are among them? The truth is that the hands of the law have not yet reached their necks.
