LUCKNOW — A Muslim woman was arrested after being accused of throwing pieces of meat outside the Lambeshwar Shiva Temple in the Bazar Khala area of the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. Angry locals claimed that the act was an attempt to disturb the peace during the Navratri festival. However, the police have stated that the woman was feeding stray dogs, and not engaging in any deliberate provocation.
According to reports, a crowd quickly gathered outside the temple after the alleged incident on Tuesday, demanding strict action against the woman. “We were shocked and furious. It felt like someone was trying to disrespect our beliefs, especially during this sacred time of Navratri,” said a resident who was part of the protest.
The police, led by Inspector Santosh Arya, arrived at the scene to control the situation and pacify the agitated crowd. “We requested everyone to remain calm while we conducted our investigation,” he said.
The accused, identified as Aliza, was arrested after the crowd’s demands for action grew. However, she insisted that her intentions were misunderstood. “She claims she was feeding stray dogs,” Arya explained, adding that Aliza is known locally for her care of street animals. “She is a dog lover and regularly feeds stray dogs in the area,” he added.
According to the police, Aliza, who lives alone, was carrying pieces of meat in a bag to feed the dogs sitting near the temple. This has been her routine for some time, though locals did not appreciate the timing or location of her actions. “She did not intend to cause any harm or insult anyone,” Arya clarified.
DCP West Om Veer Singh confirmed that the situation had been brought under control, and a case had been registered against Aliza for further investigations. “The pieces of meat were removed from the area, and we are conducting a serious investigation to determine if there was any intent to disturb public order,” Singh said.
As the investigation unfolds, the incident serves as a reminder of the tension that can arise in sensitive areas during religious festivals. “We urge people to refrain from jumping to conclusions and to allow the authorities to handle such situations calmly and fairly,” Inspector Arya said.
This case is still under investigation, and further details will emerge as the police continue their inquiry.
