Let Nuclear Power be Permissible for All, or None Should Have it!

Date:

The US is determined to protect its interests by safeguarding a terrorist state, which is massacring people in the name of self-defence

‘WE will do whatever we like but will not let you do whatever you like, irrespective of whether we like it for us or not’ is the undeclared policy statement of the big powers for the rest of the world. They can have nuclear bombs but will not let others do the same, because “we are peaceful in our intention and in our behaviour, but will not give you permission for the same because you may use it for violence against others.”

We are told that we live in a world where democracy is the most fundamental principle of governance. However, the truth is otherwise, especially when it comes to the international scene. Isn’t it strange that a world which worships democracy has its highest body run by an oligarchy of five veto-power countries? And this has been continuing for more than 80 years. It is high time that the countries of the world demanded equal rights in all matters, whether related to security or development.

The United Nations is hardly an organisation of the nations of the world. It is just an organisation of the Five Big, without whose united support, nothing can happen, even if the rest of the members are unanimous on any given issue. The Big Five, holding veto powers, can do anything in the world, can kill any number of people, or can protect any nation involved in genocide, if it suits the global designs of even a single one of them.

What has been happening in Gaza over the years is nothing less than a sheer massacre of innocent people. But the UN Security Council could not even call for a ceasefire because one of the Big Five has not been interested. The United States is determined to protect its interests by safeguarding a terrorist state, which is killing people in the name of self-defence.

Be it Bush or Obama, be it Trump or Biden, when it comes to the Palestine question or the larger issues of the Muslim World, they all tend to behave similarly. They can see the “threat” posed by Palestinian rockets, which have harmed just a few Israelis and have caused a little, if any, damage, but cannot see the threat posed by Israel, which has killed more than 70,000 Palestinians. What to speak of punishment to Israel, which has been forcibly occupying Palestinian territories for more than 70 years, the UN cannot even pass a resolution asking for a ceasefire.

And now, America, along with its ideological master, Israel, has been killing innocent Iranians for over a month. Children are being killed, civil structure is being ransacked. Of course, Iran has been successful in retaliation in an incredible way. But the truth remains that Trump is the blatant aggressor. And again, UN Security Council is in no position to intervene.

A few countries can have nuclear bombs, but Iran is not allowed to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. If they are found, rightly or wrongly, getting even a few years away from attaining the enrichment to the “banned” level, they deserve to be decimated, their regime must change and they must “surrender” to Trump’s diktats without anything in return.

How can we then call this world democratic, where all the countries have the same rights? Why can’t the world call for one of the two options: either all countries must be allowed to be nuclear, or the already existing nuclear powers must give up their nuclear prowess without delay? Only then can we consider it to be a world of equal rights for all nations.

Moreover, why should the non-veto nations remain members of this toothless organisation? Why should they not quit it without delay? Why should Muslim nations not take the lead in this regard? They must combine with like-minded countries to have a mass exodus unless the United Nations removes the veto power of the Big Five and gives equal rights to all in terms of nuclear capabilities. Otherwise, they should remain ready for recurrent destruction at the hands of the Big Five or their stooges.

The West hates Iran because it feels that the latter’s success has been highly favourable for the rise of Islamic ideology in the world. They feel it is the biggest threat to their market-driven system, the so-called New World Order, which has proved to be nothing but barbarism at its worst. This has destroyed human lives in numerous ways: wars, civil wars and evils like alcohol, drugs, abortions, unhealthy sexual practices, and the creation of a legal system, which has been a huge failure in controlling all forms of crimes, including murders and rapes. Reports of the rise of Islam throughout the world, including in its own backyard, are giving the West sleepless nights. America and its allies think that if Iran’s Islamic revolution is defeated and a puppet government is installed there, the popularity of Islam can suffer. And if Israel becomes strong, geographically situated amid the Muslim countries, it can become an arm for them to keep hitting Muslims. Time will tell whether their ambitious plans will ultimately fail, even if they achieve some intermittent short-term successes.

But the need of the hour is to run an international campaign for equal powers in the United Nations. No country should have veto power, and no country should have nuclear weapons.
