Lalu Is Free – After 76 Days In Jail

RANCHI, Dec 16 – RJD chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad walked out of prison on bail Monday, after being jailed 76 days ago in the fodder scandal.

The Supreme Court granted him bail last week.

Lalu Prasad was convicted Sep 30 and sentenced to five years imprisonment Oct 3 last year.

Along with another former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, Janata Dal-United MP Jagdish Sharma and others, Lalu Prasad was convicted of illegally withdrawing Rs.37.70 crore from the Chaibasa treasury in 1994-95 when he was the Bihar chief minister.

Lalu Prasad is facing trail in four more fodder scam cases in different CBI courts of Ranchi. IANS

  1. Laloo is, by all accounts, an intelligent politician, but he is transparently dishonest. He is a wonderful communicator who has the ability to instantly connect to his support base, Laloo must realize that if he steps down from politics gracefully now, he might at-least have the opportunity to recapture some of his lost support. If he digs his heels in, he will only be further exposed as a highly immoral, deeply insecure politician who can’t look beyond his wife and the Shahabuddins of the world. His own political future, is over.
