NEW DELHI – A 30-year-old Muslim man, Sahil Paswan, was brutally beaten to death in broad daylight on a busy street in the Shastri Chowk area of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

In the ghastly incident that occurred on September 20, Sahil was assaulted with iron rods in full view of the public. Several people witnessed the beating but no one intervened, reports reaching here said on Sunday.

Sahil’s sister was a witness in a case against notorious history-sheeters who are out on bail. The deceased had reportedly refused to convince his sister, Muskan, to withdraw her testimony in the criminal case against the alleged attackers.

The accused, according to reports, dragged Sahil out of his home and assaulted him with iron rods. The disturbing video of the incident has also gone viral.

After getting information, a police team reached the spot and rushed Sahil to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A day before the incident, the victim’s family had filed a complaint at the Police station. Enraged by this the accused took the life of an innocent Muslim man.

The Kanpur police have registered a murder case and arrested four persons identified as Vishal, Vivek, Vikram, and Akshay.

Muskan, a key witness in a drug peddling case, had come to Kanpur from Hyderabad to testify. The assailants had earlier threatened Sahil’s family with dire consequences if she insisted on her testimony scheduled for Tuesday.
