The Home Ministry had issued instructions to all states to take effective measures to stop mob lynching. Now, if even after this, such incidents are not stopping, then it can clearly mean that the people who are doing this have political protection and support, says Maulana Arshad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind

NEW DELHI — A delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind recently visited the residence of Waseem Khan in Musari, Tapukara district Alwar, Rajasthan to find out the facts of Khan’s mob lynching and to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Extending his condolences, Mufti Syed Masoom Saqib, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, conveyed the message of Maulana Arshad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama Hind, to the family in the presence of hundreds of people.
Arshad Madani’s message said Jamiat Ulama Hind will take all responsibility for the education and sponsorship of the orphaned children of Waseem Khan. The Jamiat, he assured, will also provide legal assistance to bring the criminals involved in this heinous murder to get the comeuppance for their crime, a Jamiat press statement said on Monday.
Waseem Khan has four small children, one of whom is disabled. The delegation also provided interim financial support to the children. The delegation demanded the state government to provide justice to Waseem Khan, and take honest action to prosecute all those who are involved in his murder.
The delegation also met Asif and Azhar and their parents. Asif and Azhar were accompanying Waseem when the murder took place but somehow saved their lives. Both of them people are badly injured and cannot walk by themselves. They narrated their painful and horrifying ordeal, clearly showing that the attack was organised and planned.
Expressing his deep anger and regret, Arshad Madani said it was not just murder but the height of brutality and cruelty.
He lamented that despite strict directives of the Supreme Court, there is no end to mob lynchings.
He said that the Home Ministry had issued instructions to all states to take effective measures to stop mob lynching. Now, if even after this, such incidents are not stopping, then it can clearly mean that the people who are doing this have political protection and support.
Maulana Madani said mob violence is not a community-specific issue but it is a political issue, and it can only be solved politically. “All political parties, especially those who call themselves secular, should come forward in the field of action and take practical steps to legislate against it. A mere statement of condemnation is not enough,” he said.
Maulana Madani said that mob violence and attacks have proved how sectarian elements are currently considering themselves above the law. Taking the law into their own hands, they are targeting a particular sect on the basis of religion to torture and brutalise them.
The delegation included Mufti Syed Masoom Saqib, Mufti Abdul Qadeer, Qari Sajid Faizi, and Muhammad Sabir Qasmi.
