NEW DELHI – A premier Muslim organisation in the country, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (Arshad Madani faction), will construct homes for the flood-hit people in Jammu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The Jamiat will provide all possible assistance to the flood victims who have not received any government help and those who have very slim chances of getting relief from the government.

In this connection, Jamiat teams have carried out survey of the affected areas on the instructions of the organisation’s chief Maulana Arshad Madani, a press statement issued here on Tuesday said.

The statement said construction of 15 houses has already begun in Udhampur, Jammu, in the first phase. For initial rehabilitation, 33 families — including 7 non-Muslims — in Pathankot were given Rs50,000 each in the form of cash and goods.

The Jamiat, Maulana Arshad Madani reiterated, helps the needy on the humanity ground irrespective of their religion. “Communal forces should learn from the humanitarian spirit of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind,” the statement said.

Maulana Madani described the devastation in Punjab, Jammu, and Himachal as a humanitarian tragedy. He emphasised that as servants of the Creator, “it is our duty to accept His decisions, for He alone can remedy all difficulties. Nevertheless, Jamiat and its volunteers are doing everything in their power to help the victims.”

He stated that disasters never differentiate between Hindus and Muslims—they affect everyone alike. Therefore, in the affected areas, people of all faiths are being supported without religious discrimination, because the primary mission of Jamiat is service to humanity.

Maulana Madani said: “Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind helps the needy based on humanity, not religion.” He highlighted that the recent floods caused significant destruction in Punjab and other states, and it was heartening to see that, after a simple appeal, members and volunteers of Jamiat immediately began relief work across these states.

Maulana Madani said: “Our country has been a cradle of peace and unity for thousands of years, but some people, through their politics of hatred, are determined to destroy it. He said that those who act in this way should look into their own conscience a hundred times, and the merchants of hatred should learn from the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, which has always worked on the foundations of humanity, love, and brotherhood.”
