NEW DELHI – Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH), one of the premier Muslim organisations in the country, handed over ₹5 lakhs to each bereaved family in the violence-torn Uttar Pradesh city of Sambhal.

A Jamiat delegation visited the city on Tuesday and met the families of those who lost their lives in the recent police violence and firing incidents. The delegation extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with them. It also assured the families that the sacrifices of their loved ones would not go in vain and emphasised their commitment to seeking justice for the victims.

The delegation also reaffirmed Jamiat’s long-term support for Sambhal’s vulnerable communities, including legal assistance for the protection of Jama Masjid and the release of innocent detainees.

Family representatives in attendance included Mohammad Adnan, son of Mohammad Ruman Khan; Mohammad Tasleem, brother of Mohammad Naeem; Mohammad Hasan, father of Mohammad Kaif, Mohammad Hanif, father of Mohammad Bilal and the mother of Mohammad Ayan. The families expressed deep gratitude to Jamiat President Maulana Mahmood Asa’d Madani for his unwavering leadership and compassion in amplifying their voices during these challenging times, a press release issued here said on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind General Secretary Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi and State Deeni Taalimi Board President Mufti Mohammad Syed Afan Mansoorpuri, faced resistance from local police, who attempted to block their visit. Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi firmly objected, stating that no one has the right to obstruct efforts to support and empathise with the victims. Mufti Mohammad Affan Mansoorpuri reiterated Jamiat’s mission to assist the oppressed and raise its voice against injustice, emphasising that Jamiat stands with victims of persecution without discrimination based on caste, creed, or religion, the press release said.
