NEW DELHI — A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sadhvi Prachi for making hate speech during the screening of the Islamophobic movie ‘The Kerala Story’ in Jaipur.

The case was filed against the Hindutva leader, notorious for her anti-Muslim rhetoric after a video of her inflammatory remarks surfaced on social media.

Addressing moviegoers inside a theater in Jaipur, Prachi made hateful remarks about the minority community claiming that Ram Navami processions were being attacked when these people (Muslims) make up 30% of the total population in India. “If their population goes above 40%, it will be difficult for our girls to step out of home. This is what Kerala files (The Kerala Story) is all about,” warned Prachi.

She also tried to spread fear by dragging the issue of Kashmir into it. She claimed that Hindus were expelled from the Valley because of their very low population there.

She made the controversial remarks at an event organised by the Hindutva outfit Hindu Yuva Vahini.

The video of her speech was posted on social media by Hindutva Watch, the Twitter handle which tracks hate speeches.

As her video surfaced, several social media users tagged Rajasthan police demanding the registration of an FIR against her.

Tagging Rajasthan chief minister and state police, M.M. Dhera, an advocate practicing in Rajasthan High Court, said that if the government doesn’t file an FIR against Prachi, he will move the court.

“As per the Supreme Court order, if the high court does not take suo moto cognisance of the matter of hate speeches, it will be a violation of the court order,” said Dhera.

On Wednesday, Prachi was booked under Section 295 (a) of IPC and 67 of the IT Act for delivering a provocative speech.

“We have booked Sadhvi Prachi and two others over their comments which are likely to disturb communal harmony. The coordinator of the event and other office-bearers who organised the programme will also be questioned,” Jaipur Police Commissioner (North) Rashi Dogra Dudi said.

Vidyadhar Nagar Circle Officer Virendra Kuril said the FIR comes in the wake of a complaint by Assistant Police Sub Inspector Madanlal.

However, the FIR against her has not deterred her. Yet another of her video has surfaced wherein she made inflammatory remarks against Muslims while talking to some YouTube channel.

In her latest speech, she called for a ban on madrassas saying Muslims are trained to “love Jihad” in madrassas and mosques.

She also said weapons have been found in mosques.
