Israeli Attack Kills Eight Palestinians in Central Gaza as Ceasefire Violations Continue

Date:

GAZA – An Israeli airstrike killed at least eight Palestinians and injured several others early Saturday after targeting civilians in central Gaza.

The strike hit a group of civilians in the “Block 9” area of Al-Bureij Refugee Camp. Health officials said the attack caused multiple casualties, including critically injured victims. Ambulance crews rushed the wounded and the bodies of those killed to hospitals under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.

In a separate attack, Nasser Hospital reported receiving three injured people after an Israeli drone targeted a tent sheltering displaced civilians near areas controlled by Israeli forces in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis.

Local reports also confirmed heavy Israeli artillery shelling and intense tank fire targeting eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis, signaling continued military escalation despite a fragile ceasefire.

The United Nations condemned the continued killing of Palestinians in Gaza, even as a ceasefire announced in October remains officially in place.

Volker Türk said civilians in Gaza face widespread insecurity due to ongoing daily attacks. He warned that the current pattern of killings reflects a continued disregard for Palestinian lives.

Türk noted that more than 32 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of April. He said attacks continue to target civilians in homes, shelters, roads, and public facilities.

UN officials highlighted worsening humanitarian conditions across Gaza. Israeli restrictions on aid entry and the destruction of infrastructure have intensified the crisis. Türk warned that these conditions undermine any real commitment to maintaining the ceasefire.

The Gaza Human Rights Center documented ongoing Israeli attacks, including airstrikes, shelling, incursions, and the demolition of homes. Since the ceasefire began, the group recorded the killing of 743 Palestinians, including 205 children, 86 women, and 21 elderly people, along with more than 2,000 injuries. — QNN
