Israel Humiliates Palestinian Prisoners Before Releasing Them

Date:

Photos showed Palestinian detainees in degrading positions, further humiliating them after years of torture and abuse

OCUPIED JERUSALEM — Israeli authorities forced Palestinian detainees, set for release in today’s ( Feb 15) exchange, to wear uniforms marked with the Star of David and the slogan “We will not forgive, we will not forget.” Photos showed them in degrading positions, further humiliating them after years of torture and abuse. Many were detained without charges or trial—taken as hostages rather than detainees.

Freed detainees have testified about the brutal treatment they endured. They described starvation, beatings, and other forms of systematic abuse inside Israeli prisons.

In contrast, Palestinian resistance ensures that every Israeli prisoner it releases is treated with dignity. In every exchange, the resistance provides gifts to the freed Israelis, despite them being soldiers or settlers captured in war. Today, along with the usual gifts, the resistance gave Israeli prisoner Sagui Dekel-Chen a gold pendant for his daughter, born four months after his capture.

Resistance groups also allow freed Israelis to speak freely to the media and interact with Palestinians during the transfer process. Released prisoners appear calm and comfortable as they address cameras. The resistance has consistently published videos showing Israeli prisoners engaging in normal activities. Just yesterday, Saraya al-Quds released footage of Alexander Turbanov fishing while in captivity. Years ago, Al-Qassam Brigades shared a video of released soldier Gilad Shalit enjoying a barbecue with his captors.

Social media users noted that the stark contrast in treatment reveals the true nature of both sides in this war; one rooted in oppression, the other in upholding human dignity even amid conflict. — QNN
