IRGC reports death of senior commander Maj. Gen. Majid Khademi

TEHRAN — Iran said Monday that the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization was killed in a US-Israeli attack.

State broadcaster IRIB, citing an IRGC statement, said Maj. Gen. Seyed Majid Khademi was “martyred” in the strike.

Khademi had been appointed head of the IRGC’s intelligence arm in June 2025 following the killing of his predecessor, Gen. Mohammad Kazemi, in an Israeli strike.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation. — Anadolu Agency
