PATNA – Tensions have erupted within the century-old Muslim organization, ‘Imarat-E-Sharia,’ as a revolt led by Mufti Nazar Tawheed Mazahiri against the 8th Amir Shariat, Maulana Ahmad Wali Faisal Rahmani, sparks fears of division. The Jharkhand unit witnessed a self-declared coup, with Nazr Tawheed Mazahari assuming the position of Amir Shariat under the banner of “Majlis Ulema wa Aimma.” However, the Central Office in Patna claims to have successfully thwarted this alleged conspiracy.
The pledge of allegiance reportedly occurred during a meeting on Thursday, raising concerns within Muslim community circles as news of Mufti Nazr Tawheed’s move spread rapidly through social media. Prominent figures, including Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujjadi, Secretary of the Muslim Personal Law Board, and Maulana Sagheer Ahmad Rashadi, Ameer Shariat Karnataka, condemned Tawheed’s actions, urging Muslims to maintain unity and harmony.
In a joint statement, Maulana Yusuf Ali (Ameer Shariat Assam), Maulana Alauddin Nadvi (Teacher Nadwat Ulama Lucknow), Maulana Zainul Abedin Chatra, Maulana Samiruddin Qasmi, and other scholars from Britain denounced the coup attempt, emphasizing the importance of solidarity.
The ‘Emarat-E-Sharia Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand,’ established a century ago by Maulana Abul Muhasan Muhammad Sajjad, serves as an ancient institution dedicated to fostering Islamic thought, unity, and organization under an Amir for the unity of Islam. The central office in Patna stated in a press release that the institution has witnessed continuous development under the leadership of an Amir.
Ahmad Wali Faisal Rahmani was elected as the 8th Amir Shariat following the death of the 7th Amir Shariat, Hazrat Maulana Syed Muhammad Wali Rahmani. Significant progress has been made during his two-year tenure, particularly in Jharkhand, where educational institutions were established, new daruqaza were set up, and various welfare initiatives for the needy and widows were implemented.
The attempt to destabilize the Emirate during a meeting organized by Majlis Ulema Wa Aimma was swiftly rejected by scholars present, thwarting what could have been a successful conspiracy. The Central Office emphasized the need for Muslims to remain connected with the Emarat-E-Sharia Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand, and urged them to live in unity and agreement.
The press release concluded with a plea to scholars, imams, and preachers to repel any temptations leading to disunity and to resist conspiracies that aim to create chaos, emphasizing that the strength of the Muslim community lies in communal life under the leadership of Ameer Sharia.
