NEW DELHI: Hindu students of Jamia Millia Islamia are coming out to stonewall the claim of Hindutva activists that Hindus are not safe at the minority-dominated central university in the national capital.

Day after a group of Hindutva activists held a short demonstration near the main gate of Jamia Millia, claiming that Hindu students are not safe here, several students from the majority community have sent a strong reply to them.

The students have flashed their own photos holding placards with clear messages. Read some of them below:

“My name is Ritu. I am a Hindu. I am safe in My Jamia. #We ARE ONE. #I STAND WITH JAMIA”.

“My name is Vinita Pandey. I am a Hindu. I feel safe in Jamia. #Say No To Bhagwagardi. #I Stand With Jamia.”

“My name is Mukund Jha and I am safe in Jamia.”

I am a Hindu and I am safe in Jamia, says Hindu students of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi

Even as Aligarh Muslim University is still boiling over the attempt by members of Hindu Yuva Vahini to barge into the campus, around two dozen people allegedly belonging to a saffron outfit gathered at the main gate of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi on Tuesday and raised some communal and provocative slogans. After a few minutes of sloganeering, the saffron activists returned.

They were raising communal and provocative slogans like, Jinnah premi bharat chhodo (Those who love Jinnah, must leave India), Hinduon ko darana band karo (Stop terrorizing Hindus) and Vande Mataram.

They were also carrying placards with different messages written on them.

One message read: “Hindus not safe in Jamia”. Another one had this message: “Do not terrorize Hindus”.

The university administration termed the incident as “unfortunate”.

Saima Sayeed, PRO, Jamia Millia told Caravan Daily, “Though they did not enter inside the campus and were on road but it is unfortunate. It is important time because the exams have just started in the university. Such incident has never happened. We will soon sit and get into the heart of the matter. We just hope and pray that nobody disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the campus especially at a time when exams have just started,” she said.
