HYDERABAD — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that if BJP comes to power in Telangana, it will work to change the name of Karimnagar district as ‘Karipuram’ respecting ‘people’s sentiments.’
The saffron clad CM, star campaigner for the BJP who represents Hindutva face in the party, also promised to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, if BJP forms government in the state.
Yogi Adityanath is carrying with him the feeling of pride after changing names of selected cities in his home state Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad to Pragyaraj, Faizabad to Ayodhya and Mughal Sarai to Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction are his recent achievements. Any city which has got names denoting any connection with Muslim history or having Muslim sounding names remains his target to fulfill his Hindutva dreams.
Addressing a series of election rallies in support of BJP candidates in Telangana on the last day of the campaign, Yogi said: “If BJP comes to power in Telangana then BJP will work for renaming Karimnagar into ‘Karipuram’ and respect your sentiments.
In Hyderabad on December 2 he said, “Hyderabad will become Bhagyanagar like we did it in Uttar Pradesh where we changed Faizabad to Ayodhya and Allahabad to Prayagraj.”
“If Hyderabad has to be transformed into ‘Bhagyanagar’ then I call upon you to support BJP to form the government (in Telangana)”, he had said.
Yogi also said on Sunday while campaigning in Telangana that if BJP comes to power, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi will flee Hyderabad like Nizam was forced to flee.
Yogi is not alone, BJP Telangana leader T Raja Singh Lodh, who was an MLA in the dissolved Assembly, had on several occasions earlier said that BJP would aim to rename Hyderabad and other cities in the state after the names of great people, if elected to power.
Employment, development, agrarian issues, education and home for the homeless have always been the main things to discuss by the candidates while contesting the elections anywhere in the country. Political parties always tried to offer better administration and benefit to masses as a promise to get votes. Now our BJP leaders are trying to sell Hindutva in different names.
Yogi Adityanath speaks openly about establishing Ram Rajya but why he does not speak on the Constitution of India which opted for secularism, democracy and special privileges to minorities.
He said at a rally while providing good governance and ensuring development in the country, BJP would strengthen nationalism to fulfill the dream of ‘Ram Rajya’.
Targetting Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Yogi also said these parties wanted to work only for Muslims and can’t think beyond Muslim politics.
