NEW DELHI — After a local Hindutva leader made a controversial remark on rape, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological umbrella organisation of the Hindutva parties, including the ruling BJP.
Reacting to the remark of BJP MLA Surendra Singh, Gandhi took to Twitter and said: “This is the filthy RSS male chauvinist mentality at work.”

The BJP MLA had apparently blamed the rape victim in his remark in which he said that rape cases in the country could be prevented only with “sanskaar” (culture and values) and not with “shasan” (governance) or “talwar” (sword). He asserted that there was a need for “parents to inculcate good values in their daughters to prevent such crimes”
