AYODHYA — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the union government was working on “various options within the ambit of the Constitution to build a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya”, reports IANS.

Perhaps this was the “good news” that Mahendra Nath Pandey, BJP’s chief of Uttar Pradesh, had hinted just five days back that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will deliver on the eve of Diwali on Ram Temple.

Yogi Ji mukhyamantri ke saath saath bahut bade sant hain. Nishchit roop se unhone Ayodhya ke liye yojana banayi hai. Diwali aane dijiye, khushkhabri ki pratiksha kijiye… Mukhyamantri ke haathon wo yojana saamne aayegi to uchit hoga (Yogi Adityanath is not just the chief minister but he is also a famous saint. Certainly he must have made some strategy on Ayodhya. Let Diwali come, wait for the good news. If the CM announces the plan, it will be apt),” the UP BJP chief had said., according to Times Now.

On the second-day of his visit to the temple town of Ayodhya, the monk-politician prayed at the Hanumangarhi temple and declared that Ayodhya was the abode of “Ram Lalla’ and that there “was a temple (at Ayodhya) and will always be there”.

He also visited the makeshift Ram Lalla temple at the disputed site where once stood the Babri mosque which was razed in 1992. Adityanath also met seers at the Digambar Akhara, visited the Saryu ghat, Sugreev Fort and also met Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, IANS report says.

The Chief Minister also inspected the site where a 150 metre tall statue of Lord Ram would be installed on a 50 feet pedestal.

“We have grand plans for Ayodhya and we are working in that direction” he later told reporters. He also announced that a shelter home for widows and orphaned children would be set up in Ayodhya.

The movement of Ram temple construction has been accelerated by the BJP stalwarts like Yogi Adityanath and other patrons of the BJP, RSS and Shiv Sena after the Supreme Court of India deferred the hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case for January 2019.

Whether there will be Babri Masjid or Ram temple on the disputed site or was there temple before Babri Masjid the Supreme Court of India only is to decide after hearing petitions from both the sides. But the Ram temple issue has given enough ammunition to Hindutva brigade to incite communal sentiments and polarizing electorates on communal lines to the benefit of BJP specially at a time when elections are approaching.

The 16th-century Babri Masjid in the city of Ayodhya was demolished by Hindu zealots on December 6, 1992.
