SAHARANPUR — In a shocking viral video, the female kabaddi players (Under-17) of Uttar Pradesh can be seen taking food from inside a toilet. The video shows players serving themselves rice and vegetable from different vessels placed near a row of urinals in a toilet.

The videos, not one, were reportedly shot on September 16 during an Under-17 state level kabaddi tournament for girls in Saharanpur, reports NDTV.

The viral video shows urinals and wash basins in the frame and then shows the rice plate kept on the toilet floor near its gate. The players can be seen taking the food and heading out of the toilet.

The video now in wide circulation has triggered a massive outrage and Yogi-led state government has suspended Saharanpur Sports Officer Animesh Saxena, according to reports.

“There were complaints of bad arrangements. The district sports officer has been suspended. I have ordered an enquiry and the concerned person will submit a report in three days. We will take appropriate action,” NDTV quoted Akhilesh Singh, District Magistrate, Saharanpur as saying.

Congress and several other political parties have condemned the incident showing state governments apathy towards daughters of the state and attacked the BJP for disrespecting the kabaddi players.

The video has also been shared by the Congress and Jayant Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, as well as Y Satish Reddy of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and other political leaders.

Ina tweet in Hindi Congress fumed: “The BJP can spend crores on various campaigns, but does not have money to make proper arrangements for players.”

Social media convener of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Y Sathish Reddy tweeted, “Food served to kabaddi players in #UttarPradesh kept in toilet. Is this how #BJP respects the players? Shameful!

Taking to Twitter, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhary called the incident “disrespectful”.
