Father of Former Israeli Soldier Reveals Hamas Treated His Son Humanely During Captivity

Date:

OcCCUPIED PALESTINE — Despite Israeli restrictions, Hagai Angerst, father of Israeli soldier Matan Angerst, shared details of his son’s captivity and how the resistance treated him humanely in an interview with Channel 2. “He prayed three times a day using a siddur he requested and received from a Hamas official,” he said.

Angerst said that his son moved from place to place. “His conditions were much harder. He was a soldier who fought against them”, he explained.

Angerst added that the Israeli soldier “could choose from the food available.”

Previous Israeli prisoners, both soldiers and settlers, confirmed in multiple interviews that Hamas fighters treated them humanely. They said the fighters feared Israeli airstrikes more than harming captives. Former female captives also reported friendly discussions with their captors.

Since the first group of prisoners was released, Israeli authorities have imposed strict control over statements from freed captives. This measure came after early testimonies highlighted the humane treatment by the resistance, contradicting Israeli propaganda. — QNN
