NEW DELHI — Referring to a video where a farmer in Karnataka is seen questioning BJP President Amit Shah at a public meet, the Congress on Monday said that voices of the farmers cannot be ‘muzzled’, reports The Hindu.

“As BJP president Amit Shah gets cornered and rendered speechless in face of truth by a farmer on anti-farmer policies of Modi government, BJP’s reply is to heckle, manhandle and hustle him,” tweeted Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

The official handle of the Congress tweeted a nearly minute-long edited video clip which shows a sugarcane farmer in Karnataka reportedly asking about “anti-farmer policies and lack of jobs.” Within a few seconds, volunteers are seen snatching the microphone from the farmer amidst some pushing and shoving.

The video is from an interaction at Humnabad in Kalaburagi on Sunday when about 1,000 farmers had come from different places to interact with the BJP chief. One of them reportedly questioned him on why the Centre waived off corporate loans when it didn’t do so for farmers.

Towards the end of the clip, Mr. Shah is seen trying to pacify the farmers and is reported to have clarified that the Centre had not waived off any loans to corporates.
