HYDERABAD – Buoyed by the successful 80:20 polarisation of voters in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated measures to adopt the same strategy in Hyderabad Lok Sabha elections. Its ploy of dividing voters on communal lines has paid rich dividends in several state elections after its electoral triumph in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP has started using its leaders to promote the idea of 80:20, initially espoused by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the campaigning for the state polls, for succeeding in the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.
BJP has entrusted the job on T. Raja Singh, the firebrand Hindutva proponent and MLA from Goshamahal, and the party’s general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy reportedly announced during a meeting with party leaders the other day that the party’s focus is on winning maximum seats in the state and Hyderabad parliamentary constituency. BJP has also started preparing for a tough competition. It is said that BJP is working to end the communal amity in Hyderabad city in order to win by dividing votes on communal lines.
According to sources, BJP leaders claim that the party received enough votes in the seven assembly seats under the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency in the recent assembly elections. They also said the party’s vote share has increased significantly while it cannot be said for All India Majlis Ittihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). The focus, therefore, is on competition, Reddy told his party leaders.
