Election 2019 Results: Initial Trends Favour BJP; Congress Trails

NEW DELHI — Officials on Thursday morning began counting the millions of votes cast in 7 phases of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 across the country whose verdict will determine who gets to rule India for the next five years.

As the counting began at 8 am there are continuous updates on the status of results and BJP is constantly having overall lead except in a few places. BJP leads strengthen the claims of the exit polls which showed BJP in good position.

According to Election Commission of India data on the status of results known for 505 seats so far, BJP is leading on 277 seats across India while Congress maintaining lead on 52 seats only.

A total number of 8,049 candidates were in the race for 542 Lok Sabha seats. Election in Vellore in Tamil Nadu was countermanded by the Election Commission.
