Disguised in Burqa, Hindu Man Caught Entering Shamli Temple; Probe Initiated

Date:

LUCKNOW — Tension gripped Barkhandi village in Shamli district on May 23, after a man disguised in a burqa entered a local temple, raising suspicion among villagers and sparking widespread outrage. The man was later identified as Sunil, a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana, who was reportedly visiting relatives in the area.

Locals near the Veeron Wale Mandir on Friday morning became suspicious after noticing the man’s unusual gait, which did not align with that of a woman. Their doubts intensified, and when they attempted to confront the person, he fled into the temple premises. The crowd pursued him and forcibly removed the veil, revealing the individual to be a man. Upon the discovery, tensions escalated, and some villagers reportedly assaulted him.

A video capturing the chaotic scene has gone viral on social media, spreading concern across the community. “It was shocking to see someone disrespecting our sacred place like this,” said a local villager. Another added, “We had every reason to be cautious; temples are meant for peaceful worship, not tricks.”

Police confirmed that the accused has been identified and a case filed following complaints from villagers. However, Sunil managed to escape before authorities arrived. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has also joined the investigation, given the sensitivity of the matter and the potential for communal tension.

“We urge everyone not to believe in rumours and allow the investigation to proceed calmly,” said a senior police official. The viral video has stirred debates online, with many questioning the motives behind the man’s actions and calling for strict action.

This incident reflects the deep mistrust and communal sensitivities that exist in the region. Residents of Barkhandi remain concerned about the peace and harmony of their village, with many calling on authorities to ensure such incidents do not recur.
