NEW DELHI — Extending his hand of cooperation, leaving behind his earlier confrontationist attitude, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said both the city and central governments must work together.
The Aam Aadmi Party Chief congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for BJP’s big win in the Lok Sabha elections and also wished him luck for the next five years.
Kejriwal, who had skipped the all-party meeting called by the Prime Minister two days back, also assured full cooperation of his government to the Centre.
“I have congratulated him and wished him luck for the next five years. I told him that it is important for Centre and state government to work together for the development of Delhi. I have assured him that Delhi government will work with them and hopes that we will get support from Centre too,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal, who had been a strong critic of Modi and his government, also assured Delhi government’s “full cooperation” for the city’s development and sought Modi’s support in the storage of rainwater in Delhi.
He said the Delhi government planned to store the Yamuna water during the rainy season.
“One season’s water (is) sufficient to meet one year’s Delhi’s water needs. Requested Centre’s support.”

The Delhi chief minister briefly discussed Ayushman Bharat scheme with Modi. “Ayushman Bharat was briefly discussed. Informed Hon’ble PM that Delhi Govt’s Delhi Health scheme is much bigger and wider in scope. However, assured him to examine if Ayushman Bharat scheme cud also be integrated into our scheme,” he tweeted after the meeting.
Arvind Kejriwal also invited the Prime Minister to visit a Mohalla Clinic and a Delhi government school.
