Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and several other countries express their solidarity with India in ‘this hour of grief’
NEW DELHI – The Muslim World League (MWL), the international Islamic non-governmental organisation based in the holy city of Makkah, has strongly condemned this week’s explosion in Delhi which left at least a dozen people dead and scores of others injured.
The global Islamic body seeks to advance moderate Islamic values, foster interfaith dialogue, and provide humanitarian aid, while combating extremism.
A statement issued on Thursday said Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL, condemns the terrorist bombing that occurred in the heart of the Indian capital.
Sheikh Al-Issa, who is also the Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, denounced the “heinous act of terrorism.” He reaffirmed the MWL’s firm stance – shared by all Muslims under its umbrella – in rejecting and condemning all forms and manifestations of violence and terrorism, regardless of their motives or justifications.
Sheikh Al-Issa also extended the MWL’s sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wished the injured a swift recovery.
Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, France, Singapore, South Korea and several other countries also condemned the blast.
A statement issued by the Saudi embassy in New Delhi extended condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of India. It expressed its sincere wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured and for “security and safety for the Republic of India and its friendly people.”
The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the bombing. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability.
The Embassy of Egypt in India posted on X, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, and we wish all injured a swift and complete recovery.”
France’s Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, also conveyed condolences on X, saying, “On behalf of the French People and Government, I extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish a full and complete recovery to all those injured.”
Expressing solidarity with India, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said his country strongly condemns the terror incident. “Singapore stands in solidarity with India in this difficult time,” Balakrishnan posted on X.
South Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun offered heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the horrific attack. “I am deeply saddened by the news of the explosion in Delhi. On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Korea, I offer my sincere condolences to the people of India who lost their loved ones. I wish the injured a full and speedy recovery and a swift return to normal life,” Hyun posted on X.
Additionally, Irish Ambassador to India, Kevin Kelly, extended support to India, condemning terrorism in all forms.
“Terrorism has no place in society. We strongly condemn all forms of terrorism and stand with the Indian people,” Kelly posted on X.
Meanwhile, condemning the blast a collective of Indian Muslims termed it “an assault on our nation and the shared heritage that belongs to every Indian.”
In a statement on Wednesday, Citizens for Fraternity (CFF) said Indian Muslims stand united against all forms of terror. Signatories to the statement are: Dr Najeeb Jung, former LG of Delhi, SY Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Lt Gen (rtd) Zameer Uddin Shah, and prominent industrialist Saeed Mustafa Shervani.
“Such crimes cannot and must not be linked to any community or to our Kashmiri brethren, who have themselves borne immense suffering and are an inseparable part of the Indian family,” the statement said.
It said “the heinous act is an assault on our nation and the shared heritage that belongs to every Indian. As Muslims, we utterly condemn and denounce this inhuman deed.”
Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari said, “Terrorism has no ground and could not have any in the civil society.”
“The Muslim community is filled with the spirit of patriotism and stands with their compatriots at this crucial juncture. My heart is filled with deep sympathy and solidarity with the affected families who lost their relatives. Their sorrow is collectively our sorrow. We stand with them on an unshakable foundation of compassion.
“Muslims of India, including our Kashmiri brethren and sisters, do stand against terrorism with the country for its national security and integrity,” he added expressing hope that the national leadership will leave no stone unturned in bringing the terrorists and their patrons to justice. – Agencies
