Netizens demand inquiry after video of the girl alleging harassment goes viral

NEW DELHI — A video posted by Chitra Rajput, a young Delhi University student, has gone viral on social media. It highlights alleged misconduct by a professor and intimidation by the Head of Department.

In the video, Chitra claims that after she posted a video accusing the professor of misconduct, the HOD summoned her to his office and pressured her to delete the posts. She quoted the HOD as saying, “Delete all the reels you posted against the professor. You are just a small part of this university. We can ruin a lot for you.”

The video has sparked widespread concern and outrage on social media, with many calling for action against the professor and the HOD.

In the video, the student further alleged that the professor did not even give her the admit card. She also claimed that some of her classmates went to the HOD and spoke against her. “Seven or eight students went to the HOD and said the professor is right and I am wrong. These students sold themselves for forty marks in the internal assessment. This is DU. Welcome to DU,” media reports quoted her as saying in the video.

In an emotional statement, the student said she was asked again to go to the professor’s room and talk to him. She strongly refused, saying, “I told them clearly that I will not go to any professor’s room. I got admission here on my own talent and hard work. I will not beg.”

The girl student also alleged that marks were being linked to how much time students spend in professors’ rooms. “This university is being run by goons. Professors decide marks based on how long students sit in their rooms,” she claimed.

The student said the respect Delhi University once had in society is now gone. “The status and respect of DU have finished. This is the reality of DU,” she said breaking down in tears. She also made it clear that she would not delete any of her videos and continue to speak out.

Netizens have demanded a fair inquiry in the whole episode with some of them people wondering whether the university administration will take action. Some others have expressed concern over the student’s safety.

As of now, there has been no confirmed official response from the Delhi University administration regarding the allegations.
