SAHARANPUR — As the grand general elections in India are over and the exit polls results project unbelievable scenario, the renowned Islamic seminary of Deoband in Uttar Pradesh has appealed to Muslims to offer special prayers if they want the results of Lok Sabha elections to be “suitable for all”.
The Mufti of the seminary, Maulana Masood Hasan Bulandshahri, said that Muslims should offer prayers collectively in this regard.
“This is necessary for the peace of mankind in the country. The exit poll results have left many people disturbed. Prayers are the only answer in this situation and one never knows when their prayers will be answered,” he said, reports IANS.
The Mufti’s appeal has the approval of other clerics.
Maulana Ishaq Gora said: “We welcome the appeal and all Muslims should follow this.”
“Our country needs a government which takes everyone along and work for brotherhood, peace, and harmony. Unfortunately, we have a few parties that do politics on the grounds of religion which is not right and they should go. So, all the prayers that Mufti has advised must be taken seriously.”
Though rejected by Opposition parties, the exit poll results show a clear majority for the Narendra Modi government. This has apparently disturbed the Muslims and other minorities that have faced incidents of mob lynching over ‘cow slaughter’ during Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.
