BHIND — A horrific case of gang rape and violent retaliation has emerged in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, where a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped, and her family members were attacked for their refusal to settle the matter outside court. The accused, reportedly accompanied by a dozen individuals, stormed the victim’s home, assaulted her relatives, and set their hut on fire, leaving two family members with severe burns.

According to media reports, the accused — identified as associates of Soni Gurjar and Dharmendra Gurjar — arrived at the victim’s residence on Friday, pressuring the family to withdraw the case. When they refused, the group allegedly beat the victim’s father and another relative with sticks before vandalising the house and setting it ablaze.

“The men surrounded us, attacked my husband with sticks, and then burned our home,” said a distraught family member. “We screamed for help, but no one came.”

The victim’s family has accused the local police of siding with the accused, claiming officers ignored their pleas for help during the attack. “We called the police when our house was set on fire, but they never arrived,” the victim’s relative alleged.

Even after the injured were taken to the Bhind District Hospital, the family claims they were silenced. “The constables warned us not to speak about what happened,” one survivor told reporters. When questioned, a police constable at the scene denied knowledge of the incident.

Senior police officials have launched an investigation, but tensions remain high as the Dalit community demands justice. The accused, including Hakim Gurjar, Jaiveer Gurjar, Brajaraaj Gurjar, and Gulli Gurjar, are yet to be arrested, deepening the family’s distrust in the system.

“This is not just an attack on one family — it’s an attack on justice itself,” said a local activist. “If the police protect criminals, where do victims go?”
