Congress Leader Razia Bano Attacked in Broad Daylight by Scooty Rider in Delhi

Date:

The Congress leader criticised the ruling BJP government, saying, “Women are not safe under BJP rule. I was attacked in daylight over a minor argument. What kind of safety is this?”

NEW DELHI — Razia Bano, District President of the Mahila Congress and a former international taekwondo player, was attacked with a sharp weapon in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Saturday evening. The shocking incident, captured on CCTV, took place around 7pm while she was out for personal work.

According to Razia, a man named Ankit, who was riding a scooty, tried to harm her after a short argument. “He stopped his scooty near me and after some words, suddenly pulled out a sharp weapon,” she said. “I was scared at first, but I stood my ground and stopped him.”

Razia used her taekwondo training to protect herself, and nearby people quickly gathered. “Locals helped catch him and handed him over to the police,” she added.

The Delhi Police have taken the accused into custody and started an investigation based on CCTV footage. A formal complaint has been filed by Razia, who is demanding strict action.

After the attack, Razia criticised the ruling BJP government, saying, “Women are not safe under BJP rule. I was attacked in daylight over a minor argument. What kind of safety is this?”

The case has raised fresh questions about law and order, especially concerning women’s security in public spaces. Police said they are verifying all evidence and promised action as per law.
