NEW DELHI — The Congress party today strongly condemned the JDU-BJP government in Bihar for allegedly attempting to prevent Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, from interacting with Dalit, OBC, and other deprived and marginalised students. The party also accused the government of failing to implement reservations for these communities in the private sector.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters today, Chairman of the OBC Department Anil Jaihind and AICC Communication Coordinator for Bihar Ritu Choudhary questioned whether the country was under an Emergency, given that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha was being prevented from interacting with students.
Anil Jaihind stated that the BJP and JD(U) are afraid of Rahul Gandhi because he follows through on his promises. He pointed out that Gandhi had pledged in Parliament to ensure the implementation of a caste census during the current Lok Sabha tenure and that promise has already been fulfilled with its announcement.
The OBC department Chairman accused the Modi government of sitting over the implementation of the Article 15(5) of the Constitution that provides for reservations in the private educational institutions.
Maintaining that social justice was a transformative idea, he said, its time had come and nobody can stop it. He said, after a long time, the Dalits, the Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes have got a leader and voice in Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Ritu Choudhary asked why Modi government and Nitish government feel scared whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks of the deprived and downtrodden people.
Condemning the attempts by the Bihar government to stop Rahul Gandhi from interacting with the marginalised students, she remarked, Nitish had surrendered his conscience to the BJP.
